At the heart of our school community, the Year 6 Worship Team plays a special role in leading and shaping collective worship. Guided by our motto “Building bridges to a brighter future,” these pupils help bring faith, friendship, and inspiration into our school life. The team plays a key part in leading special services throughout the year, such as Harvest, Christmas, and other seasonal celebrations, helping the whole school to mark these important occasions with joy, gratitude, and faith. By helping Reverend Sarah to lead Thursday assemblies, the team not only supports spiritual growth but also sets an example of leadership for younger pupils, helping us all to walk forward in faith and kindness.

Celebrating Our Worship Team

As we say goodbye to our Year 6 Worship Team, we would like to thank them for their dedication throughout the year. They have been excellent role models, living out our vision of ‘Building Bridges to a Brighter Future’ through their commitment to our school and wider community.

This year, the team has supported Reverend Sarah in leading Collective Worship by helping to prepare assemblies, welcome others and award House Points to children showing excellent listening and engagement. They also helped deliver Harvest donations to the church, supporting the local food bank, and proudly won the St Mary’s Christmas Tree Decoration Competition with their creative ‘Building Bridges’ themed tree.

The Worship Team has also shown great self-belief and resilience by confidently helping to lead services at church.

Well done to the Worship Team for an excellent year!
Mrs Kempson, RE Lead

March Highlights

In March, the Worship Team led the whole-school Easter service at St Mary’s Church with confidence and maturity. With support from Reverend Sarah, they demonstrated impressive leadership and our core school values.

January / February Highlights

During January and February, our Worship Team have continued to play a vital role in nurturing the spiritual life of our school community. October Highlights

Harvest Service

Our Year 6 Worship Team showed wonderful leadership and dedication as they helped prepare for our Harvest celebrations. They took responsibility for collecting donations across the school and confidently reminded classes to bring in their contributions, ensuring that our Harvest appeal was a success. Their reminders were so successful and inspiring that the team even carried the many generous donations to the church, where they were later shared with Banbury food banks to support families in need—a wonderful testament to the impact of their efforts.

During the service, the team led key parts of worship with maturity and enthusiasm, and some even stepped forward to lead the songs at the front of the church. Their efforts were a shining example of our Christian school values in action, and they truly were fantastic role models for the whole school community.

November Highlights

St Mary’s Christmas Tree Festival
Our Year 6 Worship Team proudly represented the school at St Mary’s Christmas Tree Festival by designing, making, and decorating a beautiful tree inspired by our new values theme, “Building Bridges to a Brighter Future.” Each decoration reflected one of our six key values—respect, community, kindness, forgiveness, self-belief, and resilience—reminding everyone of the foundations we strive to live by each day. Their thoughtful design was a wonderful way to showcase how our values shine at Christmas and share our school’s new vision with the community. The children’s creativity and teamwork shone through, and their tree was so well received by visitors that it was voted first place in the festival, a wonderful celebration of their hard work and the spirit of our school.

December Highlights

Christingle Service
At our joint school and parish Christingle Service, members of the Year 6 Worship Team showed great confidence and reverence as they read the Bible readings to the congregation. Their participation highlighted the strong connection between our school and church community, and reflected our motto of “Building Bridges to a Brighter Future” as they helped bring people together in worship and celebration. The service was also a time of giving, with generous donations collected for The Children’s Society, ensuring that the light and hope of Christingle reached beyond our village to support children and families in need.
