Autumn 1, Week 3 – 18/9/2026
Cygnets have had a busy start to the beginning of the school year, getting to know each other, the classroom and Cropredy School. Our first days were spent learning our school motto, and building bridges of our own! The children have impressed us so very much – they have adapted quickly to school routines – like going to lunch and what we do in the mornings, as well as starting our learning in Phonics, Maths and Topic. We have also met our Year 6 buddies, who are doing a great job of looking after us! This week in Phonics we learned the sounds s,a,t and p. We have been making sure we have been saying the sounds properly – sssss not suh and t not tuh – which the Cygnets are experts at! We have also been blending with Sound Shark and identifying initial sounds!
This half term our topic is Marvellous Me, where the children are thinking all about what makes them special and unique. This week we have started thinking about our families, and who is in our family, with children drawing beautiful pictures of everyone who is special to them.
We also had our first Forest School sessions! We have loved exploring the Forest School area with Mrs Sabin, and getting to learn all about this special area of our school!
There is so much learning ahead of us, but the Cygnets have done brilliantly so far!
