How Pre-School Works
Cropredy Pre-School, based within in the heart of the village of Cropredy, and provides a warm, nurturing and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to learn through play, exploration and creativity. The pre-school is run by an experienced and highly qualified early years team, working closely with the primary school to support a smooth transition into school life.
Children benefit from access to excellent indoor and outdoor learning spaces, including opportunities for outdoor play, messy activities, imaginative role play and early literacy and numeracy experiences. The setting places a strong emphasis on developing confidence, independence, kindness and social skills, while also encouraging curiosity and resilience. As part of the wider school community, children enjoy taking part in special events and activities, helping them to feel valued, included and ready for the next stage of their education.
The staff discuss matters which have arisen and plan for the coming term.
The school and pre-School organise various activities throughout the year and previous events have included:
- Easter Fun Day
- Summer trip
- Sports Day
- Christmas Nativity Play

Government funding
From the term after their third birthday, every child is entitled to 15 hours of universal government-funded childcare per week through the Nursery Education Funding scheme. This funding is allocated three times a year—in September, January, and April—and at Cropredy Pre-School it can be used for any of our sessions.
Families eligible for the 30-hour working parent entitlement can claim up to 30 funded hours at Cropredy Pre-School for children aged 2, 3, and 4. These funded hours can also be applied to all sessions, and any remaining hours may be used at another Ofsted-registered setting.
We also accept 2-year-old funding for eligible families, which again can be used across all available sessions.
